Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Robert Boland just gave me a revelation. Most of y'all don't call bluegills bluegill down south, right? If you're calling them bream, then maybe people in the South U.S. may be searching the internet under "bream" and this site doesn't show up. I think that I'll try to start incorporating the word "bream" into a few more discussions and blogs to try to help this situation. Big bream rock, too! :)

are they one in the same or different species??
Here in SE Texas, "bream" (pronounced "brim") includes bluegill, redear, longear, shellcracker, etc. Any sunfish can be called a bream. YMMV, of course. :-)
Forgot something: while all sunfish can be called bream, the crappie is neither sunfish nor bream. :-)

Btw, it's either "soda pop", "soda", or the brand name. ;-D
in Michigan we just said 'pop' here in TN it is 'cold drink' or the 'brand name'
In Nebraska you say, "I'd like to drink a pop while I fish for bluegill".
IN alabama we say hand me a beer... ewwwwweeeeeee this is gonna be a eater right here boyaItelluwha
But its still a panfish!!!!! Just like pepsi is a coke!
Funny. :-)
as far as I know, it's just a southern thing, like in Michigan we called soda POP but here in TN it's just called a cold drink or they name it by brand....
Yes, here in TN we call all panfish bream.
First time I heard of bream is from south is the same bluegill!

Illinois Fishing Guide book from Illinois Department of Natural Resources....(IDNR)

Bluegill.....common names: Bream, Brim, Sunfish, Sun Perch, Prairie perch, strawberry bass, roach, blue bream, pale sunfish, blackear sunfish.

what's the hell is roach?????? Its more like shiner! Strawberry Bass????????? it might be crappie and I heard of it from crappie anglers!

I prefer is Bluegill! Bream is fine and the same as bluegill in south. I caught many bluegills in Florida and I noticed that Bluegills have more purple and round body than Illinois bluegills but its the same bluegill!

Bream or bluegill....who cares and we love BIG BLUEGILLS or BIG BREAM !!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah!! WooHoo!!! Big bluegill, big bream, big redear sunfish, big shellcrackers, big chinkypins, big greensunfish, big, big, BIG pumpkinseed sunfish!

Stop me--I'm startin' to shake a little bit.
