Do you love big bluegill?
I'm talking about Lake Hartwell in Oconee County, SC. Hartwell is a really large lake with more shoreline than the entire State of California! It was completed around 1966, with a good population of largemouth, Spotted Bass, Crappie, and Strippers, to name some of the most sought-after Gamefish. And I'm told that there are some Bluegills here and I've caught a precious few, but not many. My Buddy and I fished for them during the Full Moon In May and caught 8 or 10, maybe, nothing large, and nowhere as many as we would have liked. We were fishing a jig under a float, but the fishing was really slow. We were fishing from a boat along the bank. We tried to look for banks that seemed to be more sandy because there is a LOT of red clay here. I can be a lot more specific if anyone who fishes Hartwell wants to know where we were. So, what do you guys suggest we try to be more productive with Bluegills here?
