My best Rainbow Trout when Lake Fishing from a Boat, have come on large and small Spoons, Bucktail Jigs with 3" Curl tails, Crawler Spinner Harnesses ,4 " Swimbaits and Aglia Long #3 Spinners.
In Streams or Rivers Crawlers or Mealworms and Small Squirrel tail Jigs with I" Gulp minnows.

Never kept Summer Trout before with a Lake Surface Temp at 87.3 degrees but I had two frozen water bottles over them in the cooler and smoked them when I got home.

Big surprise drifting over 22 feet of Water using a drift sock and scoring this beautiful rainbow at 12:30 pm today..Was quick to get her back in the water without a measurement as the water temp was 84 on the surface .She swam away fine . I 'm guessing 2# ,16.5" .Hit a Buck tail Jig I tied on an 1/8th oz. Eagle Claw Ball head Jig hook .I attached a Mister Twister Yellow Curl tail that I soaked in Vegetable Oil and Vanilla extract .

A Christmas Eve Tradition ,smoked Trout . This one was Apple chip smoked.I'm ashamed though I bought it at the Fish Market. Wrecked the best part of the Tradition!
