Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I am looking for smaller jigs other than the standard round head for tubes and twisters like they have in the current Panfish edition of In-fisherman magazine. Does anyone know where to find these? They have to be out there.

Try Cabelas or Bass Pro...they have everything!
There are many sources for finding these jigs.
Tacklecraft.com is one. Google - jigs- and you'll be surprised. I use jigs 1/100th of an ounce. Tiny ice jigs are very good for what you want. Anything to do with ice fishing can help you.
Hope this helps
Rob
Northland has a wide variety of different jigs...

Ryan - what exactly are you looking for? There were quite a few different flavors sprinkled through that issue. I have minnowheads, insert tube heads, and a Bellingham that I can send you to see if they are what you're after.
Do you have a weight in mind, or a specific length plastic you're using? (While I can't provide a constant supply, I can get you some "free schtuff" until you find what you're looking for.)
I am just looking for other options to change the action of the retrieve. They show many shapes in their photos. Darter heads and flat heads (horizontally) that give a faster or more varied action. Thank you for the offer to send some, but I am determined to find a source that I can keep supplied. I have set a goal this year to set a new personal best on my biggest gill caught. I have a feeling I will be going through many jigs lost on snags. Even having just the jig head from the Mud Bug, Scud Bug or similar baits would interest me. Just having the eye on the jig head in a different spot could be enough to vary the action of retrieval.
Hey Zig,

I am hoping that you are the same guy who was on a crappie site that I started to visit to get info on crappie fishing. I can't find that site anymore. I am still seeking the crappies and would like to find the guy who sent me some of his jigs. Would you happen to be the same person?
I agree with Rob, ICE FISHING JIGS, they are small, gold hooks, size 10 or 12, many different colors, some even have yarn or feather tails. Hard to beat when its tiped with a magot....Try e-bay...
You talked about a "the current Panfish edition of In-fisherman magazine." Is it the "April/May 2010" issue? If not could you give me enough information to find one please?
Try www.leadfreejigheads.com for a healthy variety of shapes & jig actions. The owner is a hard worker who will customize any jighead you may desire and pours em in tin so they are even lighter than standard leadheads. Prices are great, extremely fast service, and free shipping!
I am referring to the special edition just for panfish that In-Fisherman puts out yearly. It focuses mostly mostly on Crappie but there are a few articles on bluegills.
I can't find one in San Diego. I searched the In-Fisherman website and don't see one. Do you happen to have a URL where I can buy one?
Simple shapes can be done with crosscut pliers or a hammer and anvil. You can make simple flat jigs by just squashing them with a hammer and anvil. I use cross cuts to trim jigs to shape depanding on condition or the drop I want. Dont forget to try small carolina rigs. A split shot up the line rather than on a jig hook can be the difference in catching and not.
