Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I have seen this gulp alive thing everywhere and to be honest I'm the kind of guy who is skeptical on these commercial bait gigs...My question is has anyone here tried it for the BG and would you recommend it?...

I like Gulp maggot or waxworm on small plain jig and lot of nice 'gills for me! Just be careful for not any leaking in your pocket or tacklebox..... smell pretty bad!
Yes thats when it gets messy...messier than live bait .Rather worm dirt under my nails.
I haved tipped flies with gulp maggots with good sucess but the gills were hitting about anything i tried that time. I keep a jar in the car with the travel rod so I am always prepared but i don't feel they are better than the real thing
They only have worked for me after gettin' the fish worked up with the real thing like Mealworms, or NightCrawlers ... waxies or mousies for hardwater
Iv'e found that Berkley Crappie Nibbles work AMAZINGLY for bluegill and big "shellcrackers" here in NC. Just put it one nibble on a small hook with a splitshot and cast it out and leave it. If you don't get a bite within 20 sec., there aren't fish there, or they took your bait. Only bad thing about them is they are quite soft so will be easy 2 take off hook. Iv'e caught 12 in 10 minutes. They work great!
I too am skeptical of such products. The guys on the fishing shows make all this stuff sound great but, you and I would do the same if we were paid the big bucks by Berkley or Rapala. I haven't had much success and wish I had my money back.
i used the crappie nibblets to and love them. i prefer live bait but i take these for campin. i have used gulp red wigglers and they sometimes work sometimes dont
I feel the same way
This is an artificial product- I think it should be moved to another forum - not live bait.
I think it is overpriced at $6 for a little jar compared to live bait. I prefer 500 spikes to 24 plastic imitation spikes for the same price.
Could someone look at moving this out of the live bait section?
Now John, don't get your spikes in a wad. If I see something on here I don't like, I just let it go in one eye and out the other. Makes a nice breeze goin' through! I looked at moving this gulp talk out of here for you, then I realized I am the BLUEGILLboogieman, not the Gulpboogieman. It didn't even jump when I said boo!

I bought me a jar of fake spikes for my heads up test against crickets. Might try 'em today. Even got my Lindy's Grub Getter box to keep 'em in so they won't crawl out. They's lots more than 24 in my $6 jar. You don't reckon they been multipyin'?

Speaking of stuff being out of position. I was looking at Craigs List about this time last year in the boats for sale category and right there where it didn't belong was an ad for Cypress Cattle Company in Ponce de Leon, FL. Sayin' I could go fishin' there if I always made an appointment. Well even though it was not in a proper category, I bit the bullet and made me an appointment. It is my favorite fishing hole of all time. My profile picture was taken there. My brand new 12 ft Red Holland Bream Master pole got broke by a big bluegill there. I'm sure glad somebody didn't move that out of place ad.

Remember what my hero Forrest Gump said. Life is like fishing. You never know what kind of mess you'll get!

Tried the fake spikes today. Crickets worked, red worms worked, foam spider fly worked, beetle spin worked. Gulp Maggots, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA. I'll give them another try when the fish are biting better. They hit all them others today though. How much better does it have to get?

The label say's "outfishes all other baits". Yeah, right! If Gulp Maggots was all I had, I'd stay home. I do have a gazillion left in that one jar. They get one more chance on the full moon.

Oh yeah. I did tip a cricket with a fake spike and caught a gill. No way is the maggot gettin' credit for the crickets usual success.
