Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Do Bluegills spawn twice a year? If so, when is their second spawn, October?

I dont ever recall seeing Bluegill beds in October here in New Jersey.Where do u live Bruce?Might be different by you .

I live in Central, PA. Maybe I'm thinking of the heavy feeding they do prior to winter, John.

I recall catching active Gills in October in the shallows on spinners but dont think they were bedding just Hungry like you say .

Hey Bruce this is a good question........my OPINION for North Carolina is the May Full moon through the August Full moon with only a few stragglers in August.......for example ....I cleaned 60 gills this afternoon in the 5 to 7 inch class with over 40 hens and ZERO had eggs in them.......they were aggressive this weekend along with many other species joining in ......I normally see the feed bag being tied on September through November and the fish scatter for this event/period of time.........Thanks Jeffrey D.
