Icing The January New Moon With 2 Lake PB Yperch

Ice Fishing a highly public pressured lake that I have fished tens of dozens of times with out a single YPerch over the 10” mark… today I tagged two chunks over that mark within 2 hours of each other along with many small bgills… kept busy setting the hook.

Nice work....enjoyed the show.......interesting that you tag your personal best on this lake through the ice........

...thanks Jeff!... yeah i get carried away with stats... i have many Y.Perch between 13-14" but on this particular lake has stifled me...DNR swears there are trophy's in this lake but none have been recorded... for me on this particular lake i could never break the 10" mark... until now.

I hear you on the stats Slip.........people close to me think I'm crazy the way I write things down but it has helped me be a better angler in my opinion........enjoy the warmth tonight and be careful around the storm......

" Pb Yellow Perch from the Kayak”

A great way to get into a heavy bout of Spring Fever!

Cleaning up computer files from sd card... I strike gold and find long lost files of video clips tagging my PB Y.Perch what a stroke of luck... so I put together a quick video while waiting to get back on the ice

Trophy Blue Gill Pursuit... 3rd Day of the Full Moon

With Fish Activity Levels (FAL) at 93% I pursue the trophy Blue Gill (Master Angler) on highly pressured public lakes. I was late getting on the ice today just getting into position at the top of the Major. Period.

...

the first lake i attempted i felt extreme fish negativity... so after a short period i left quickly and jumped onto the next adjacent lake.

...

The first drop into the hole on the second lake resulted in the first fish at the lower mark of the eater slot 6.5. Many eater slot gills soon followed. It was nice to feel that tug again!

...

The fish were very active quickly gobbling the live spikes and tungsten combos… the smaller the offering the higher the level of activity.

It was a good overall trip getting back into the pulse of the “ICE BITE” … just under two weeks since the last trip.

...

I considered it a tune up session with successive trips pursuing the trophy 10-12” Michigan gill thru the ice… it is on my bucket list at the highest level of importance

If I can't be out there fishing on the ice I enjoy reading posts of other’s conquests video as well as pics...

Trophy Blue Gill Pursuit... “Working The 8’ Flats”

With Fish Activity Levels (FAL) at 82% and a falling to steady barometer…I pursue the trophy Blue Gill (Master Angler) on highly pressured public lakes. I was late getting on the ice today just getting into position at the top of the Major.Period… again two days in a row!

...

My favorite depths for the panfish especially the gill are between 6 and 9 foot range nearly all year long… yes even during the hard water season.

...

Today I bring a newly rigged setup at 4’ foot long enabling me to jump from hole to hole without repeatedly bending or kneeling… tough on my back and legs! This allowed me to continue drilling and searching more holes with less fatigue… and then eventually longer stretches out on the ice.

...

The fish were very active quickly gobbling the live spikes and tungsten combos… the smaller the offering the higher the level of activity. I easily tagged many eater slot B.Gills during the trip easily filling the limit with many in excess numbers

...

The largest of the day tagged was near the end of the trip at 8.5”… nicely colored bull carefully released as with the rest of them today.

...

pursuing the trophy 10-12” Michigan gill thru the ice… I figured many B.Gills on the falt there is a very good chance the trophy is right there mixed in… maybe travel a bit further eliminating some of the easy access fishing pressure.

Slip

Good video Slip, thanks for showing the jig you were using, I've seen the moon jigs at the bait shop, I'll have to try them. Did you have them on both setups? Thanks

...thanks John!... i brought four setups with me... i looked on the video i may have used 3 that day in the recordings two had tear drops tungsten and two had the moon... the moon has been tearing it up for me lately... the two set-ups with the foam blue handles had the moon jigs... one rod was 4' and the other 3'... i like the hook gap better on the moon jigs.

I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO SWIM THESE JIGS ON THE LONG-CASTERS!!!

Hi Slip, I used those moon jigs quite a bit this past summer tipped with the pink waxy. Preferred them over the conventual 90 degree jig. In fact, I rarely use the latter anymore in long casting. I like all of the ice jigs for long casting.

...Hey Kelly! most of my time was spent last year tossing a 50/50 mix tungsten or the plain lead 90deg jig... but like you i see a definite advantage to swimming the moon type jigs thru weeds and structure... should get an advantage by this...
