Do you love big bluegill?
I caught a bluegill from my pond that was covered in white stuff on it. When i scraped it off of it it looked to leave an open wound underneath. Its very unappealing aesthetically and makes me worry if this stuff will ruin my bluegill pond. Any idea what exactly it is?

Thankyou
Brian, visit Pond Boss.
Bacterial infection. My fishes in captivity, when through matting and spawning, suffered the same. Took a week of TCL to take care of them.
How do i get in contact with pond guys?? Are they on here?
I've posted some pictures, couple of weeks ago, that some of the fish had sores all around their bottoms. Looked like it was from spawning and that it was healing. Maybe bacteria.... I would talk to the pond guys.
Yea its just unsightly. But its gets on their fins too almost like fin rot. I feel like it might be something like a fungal infection. It doesnt seem to stunt growth because the ones that are like the one above seem plump and they eat the feed I toss out. My water is very clear so I see the ones with this stuff still eating. I just dont know
Out here we catch fish, at different stages of post spawn, that display something similar. I think they get sores from rubbing up against rocks & sand or each other. I don't think it is contagious but I'm not a biologist.......
