Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Has anyone heard about this fish food that grows five pound bluegill? If it uses growth hormone is it safe to eat? Any input would be apprciated. Also would love any input on auto feeders for my half acre pond. Also interested in best aerator system for my pond. Thank you for your input.

Pretty sure there's never been a 5 pound BG ever caught. I think the world record is something like 4 1/2 pounds. But there are plenty of pond owners who feed their fish and get them to grow super quick and super big. AquaMax is one of the major fish food manufacturers out there.
You're right Josh, no five-pounder. 4lbs. 12 oz. is the world record for bluegill. The world-record redear is over five pounds but there hasn't been a bluegill recorded that big. Aquamax is the best food for bluegill I am aware of - I use it myself.
Aquamax it is then, thank you both very much. I sure appreciate your quick reply.
I got the #300 Aquamax as my fish are still small. They have grown from 2" to 4-5" in less than 3 months however. If this seems impossible, the ones I'm seeing may (nah) be last years, but I choose to believe they are the new ones. It smells oddly like fishy cat food, but weirdly enough is pleasant to sniff. Comes in the correct size and protein for any size fish.
Forgot to answer your question about feeders. Sweeney and Texas Hunter are the brands I would recommend. There are several other cheaper brands; I've used three of them, and they uniformly are, in my personal opinion, junk. None of the cheapo models will even throw Aquamax 600, which is the pellet size you should use for bluegill 5" and larger, as it jams them; and the cheapos also consistently have problems with their timers, as well as just being poorly designed in many ways that you won't discover until you try using one.
Sweeney or Texas Hunter and Aquamax it will be, thank you so very much. I believe you both have saved me a lot of money and agravation with the trial and error method. Can't wait to try out the Aquamax. Thank you both again.
I think you'll be very happy with the better feeders - both brands have sterling reputations in the pond management business. Whereas the other brands have reputations more along the lines of cow dung. Keep us posted on the progress of your pond - would love to hear about it as your 'gills get big.
