Do you love big bluegill?

i use this knot 100% of my fishing needs now... which includes

  1. dropshotting... a polomar knot replacement
  2. Arbor knot replacement
  3. leader to fly line
  4. leader to braid
  5. float stopper knot
  6. Uni to hook or snap attachment

very, very easy to tie!

My new knot. Time to start practicing tying it. Thanks.

thanks Gary ... i was very impressed with its versatility and strength.

2016015-When ice fishing the other day we were experiencing ice buildup in our guides in the very extreme weather. As i pulled the 2# test line thru the tip the line broke trying to free from the frozen guides. Usually i tie a Palomar knot to the snap or bait. My hands were so cold i was unable to tie the knot to the bait because the knot is just a tougher knot to tie. So i used the Uni knot in its place. Because i use super lines they slip thru most knots readily. The Palomar held strongly and has been my knot of choice for attachment for ice fishing. Now I use one or the other. Ice fishing I definitely will use the UNI exclusively.

I'm going to put braid on my secondary set-up: 6' Ugly Stick and Pfluger spinning reel. I will definitely use the UNI. After a few practice knots following along with the video, it's an easy knot to tie. Thanks, Slip.

your welcome Gary...can you describe your Ultra light rig?

My son's very old (circa 1990) 54" Quantum Micro. Cheap, flimsy and should be interesting if I hook anything decent size!! I put 6# Trilene XL on it. Can't wait to try it out.

20160116- I wanted to share another application for this knot

I was deep jig fishing for crappies casting a 1/32 oz jig a country mile with my newly spooled 2# Nanofil... near the end of the cast a wind knot developed and I started reeling in carefully so the knot would not tighten up. A decent crappie hit the jig and as a consequence the knot tightened. I was not able to undo the knot and the line had to be cut. Instead of disposing of that long length of expensive line I tied the two ends of the line together with a Double UNI and was very satisfied with the repair.

I used the UNI to attach the mono backing to the braid. Very cool to finally be set up with braid on one of my reels. April seems so long off...
