thanks Dick and Mike...  ive been keeping two rods one rigged slipp bobber/dropshot and one 7ft ul for throwing my favorite swim jig. this Berkley Ripple Shad is a great bait... i catch everything on it.

thanks Allen... i'm very lucky to be surrounded by river systems with reservoirs that contain very good numbers of smallmouth... the local pan fishermen refer to them as nuisance fish because they are so prolific. if the bluegill or panfish aren't biting a certain day i can always count on a smallmouth bite.

Nice!  That's a species I have yet to catch.

20150406-stopped by one of my favorite fishing holes on the way from town to see if I could spend a few minutes to satisfy a craving for some tugging and to solve some curiosities in the pattern of fish movement in the shallows. Had my ul slip bobber rig as well as the 5.5ft all purpose spin rig with my favorite patterned color of olive green. Got a smallmouth hit straight away by dragging and twitching alon the bottom. Took the fishes temp with a digital cooking thermometer and it read 41 degs. Water at the shore measured 44 and ice out just a few days ago! A good battle and a quick release after a snap. The slip bobber experienced 0 hits.
