Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This made the rounds over at PondBoss, thought it might serve us as well over here. Beware the one handed grip! Broken jaws may not be apparent to the angler, but the damage to the bass can be terminal.

sweeeet.... i like that!

thats how all tournaments should should be.with the tech we have be hard to cheat

Yeah, unfortunately it still happens. Big brewha at NCKFA (local group) when someone got caught. They added more rules to help prevent recurrences.

Beautiful Ken!
As loathe as I am to say these next words (because I detest their antagonistic nature), I'll use them here: "enough said!"

Saving this one.

thanks... i think

Nothing but Net...the rubber landing net really provided a great back drop for this snap

9" class Green Sunfish .1" short of Citation

What I would like is the tray I posted to incorporate rubber netting so you could scoop, measure, release. If the tray had several large hole in it to drain I guess the net as a slime buffer might work.

great pic slip, they are mean species of sunfish.wish they got 4or5 lbs.they cross breed with warmouths around here and they are really aggressive.have gotten them to shore just hanging on to the end of a plastic worm ,not hooked ,just not letting go

thanks this was one of my all time favorite pictures and a very rare fish indeed for me ... not very plentiful in my neighborhood

I am amazed at how some  Anglers hold large Bass and the careless way they handle them. Even so called Pro's... show a total lack of thought or care as to the fishes well being. Dislocated or even Broken jaws will eventually kill the fish. If they can't catch their prey and eat, they will eventually die. ALWAYS wet your hands prior to handling any fish and ALWAYS support any Bass (Or other large fish) with two hands. Commonsense or at least it should be.

Ten years ago to this day, March 5, 2005, I caught and released this 23.5 inch 8-pound bass at a local pond on a balmy 70-degree afternoon. Today, it going down to 0 tonight with 12 inches of snow.

This fish also has been caught and released numerous times. I know the hand-hold is not good...glad she survived.
