Do you love big bluegill?
I was wondering what you all consider your favorite panfish lures?
For spinning, I like Strike King's Bitsy Minnow, Mepps ultra-lite spinner and a 1/16th ounce road runner with a curlytail
For fly fishing, I like a black fur ant.

Historically for me, it was a 2" white twisty tail grub on a 1/32 red round head, or a tiny lipless crank or a beetle spin.
Now trying tiny jigs tipped with waxies, convinced by my limited trials and the feedback of others that I will improve on numbers (not that I have had much problem with that) and what seems counter-intuitive - size. I get plenty of keeper sized, bu I want to catch some larger citation size fish.
White Bucktail Jig/ red thread collar for numbers of Gills, Perch , Crappie and Bass . Jigs work 12 months of the year . I also like the red painted heads on the white Bucktail . Red head /yellow marabou is another of my favorites , especially for Perch.
I have several favorites.. a dropper ( red ant) behind a popping bug ( by Mark Stiene); Dick Tabbert;s jelly jig; and black cricket;; Allan Morgan;s gill colored muddler minnow; and a jig he made especially for me. ;; Tooty;s silent stinger;; and rascal;s made by me. all of these have proven to be highly effective in my waters.. haven't tried a crank bait for gills yet;; will do this year
Carl's got it covered!
I like the light stuff, so I've fished a lot of tiny cranks. Strike King's Bitsy Minnow is by far the best. Started fishing it just a couple of years ago, and I think it has become my favorite of all. Only problem is the tiny treble hooks. Gills usually get all three in their mouths. Be sure to have pliers.
I know what ya mean Ron .I often cut off one of the trebles for Gills .
My favorite Red Breasted Sunfish fly is the black ant also.
TM's have been deadly for just about everything freshwater for me!
I got a little package to try and the first thought I have is that these are perfect for the small beetle spin.
That's a hard one...for gear fishing I think jigs take the crown, either jigged or under a float.
I really can't tell you for flies...too many of them are incredibly productive...ant's are awesome, I really like spiders and such too.
Bluegill bully is definitely up there, easy to tie and very effective. I love fishing dries for panfish though too!
I'm basic and a hard core jig fisherman. My go to bait spring and summer is a 1/16 white pearl jighead with a 1 1/2 in pearl limp twister tail. I do change to a chartruese jig head with a little red on the bottom of the jig but most of the the the white pearl tail will be hanging off my jig. These are my confidence lures so they get use the most.
