Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Found this guy, belly up behind all the crap on my desk.
High time I get it sorted, I imagine.

Seriously, tied this "Junk Pile Cockroach" yesterday from tying scraps and waste material. Most of the old books include mention of cockroaches as viable baits, and I've tried them. They work.

So I tied up a mimic last season and it also worked. Cast near fallen wood, shore weeds and under branches, the fish surely take it for an easy meal.

There are 3500 species of cockroaches the world, 55 in the US. All are retiring insects, and most live in woods and fields. Sooner or later, they end up in the water....

Carl - thanks. this is a recycled hook.
I strip as many as I keep.

Dick, I can go with that. I'll fish em, then.

Me and you friends for sure but never your little insect friend. I Remember when I was in Nan and in the middle of the night you feel one of them huge roaches run acrossed you and believe me I got everybody up on a search and destroy mission. After the mission was complete we could carry on with our nights sleep. Hate them things to no end.

I do it often, once a week is usual. I have a very small tying station, so I have to make some effort at good housekeeping.
The next version of the JP COCKROACH will sport knotted legs and waist hackle.

I just did a clean-up found all kinds of missing stuff! maybe I should do it once a month instead of once a year?
