Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Picture this sometime in the very near future… very near… you’ve been trophy fishing and you finally hit it big on your target species. You are a sportsman and catch and release has been in your blood  for what seems like ages. You land your trophy admire it… take a couple selfies and then you scan it. That ‘s right. Your fish is held underneath a portable hand scanner all the data of lengths and proportions, colors etc are stored and sent to your 3d printer at home. The data is sent through  some predetermined modeling software, a pose is selected then the 3d printer kicks in. Yes… 3d printer! The printer builds an exact replica of the fish you just caught and will be waiting for you when you get back from your trip!!! Send it to your local taxidermist for paint and your done!! sound to far fetched?

That's weird....I just suggested very nearly the same thing over at PondBoss for a deer hunting application.....only I envisioned it being an app on your smartphone of the future.

Technology which has been evolving within the past decade. Soon..soon..you'll be able to model your 3D not only in plastics, but also in metal. Diffusion colors will be a challenge to mimic the original, but it only took less than 7 years for a black and white printer to go into a full million colors print mode. Be patient. Before we croak, we will be able to print out our catches to preserve.

And don't forget, actually save American manufacturing. Right now you can do rods, indicators reels . Cost is just about $2,800.00. I've seen the small ones for about $1,500.00 . Bet you could make a custom lure or two to exact specifications

  • MakerBot 3D Printer. Replic…

great video of a 3d printer replicating a crescent wrench first by scanning the tool with a hand scanner... and of course as technology and manufacturing catches up toconsumer demand... that hand scanner could be scanning your trophy fish instead of a crescent wrench.
