Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Guys;

Today every time I tried to scroll up and down the BBG page on my screen another page opens where is says I need to download JAVA in order to continue to view BBG. Took me about 10 tries of clicking on the red X to close out the screens trying to get rid of those JAVA download screens.

Then while trying to get info from this Technical Support page every time I put my cursor on "Tech Support" an advertisement opened for some private tech support company.

Is this stuff all legit?

BBG uses heavily on java based codes, and slightly on Adobe Flash/Shockwave player. Java is legit, but very annoying if you don't disable its update notification in two locations:

1. Under the Java's application settings.
2. Under Services and Startup, which can both be accessed under "msconfig".

If you need more info on customizing and disable the notifications, while keep on using the outdated version of java application, which can and will be quite unstable, I'll show you the way. Otherwise, you can update java (as well as Adobe Flash player) when the notification let you know there's a new version. Quite annoying in my book.

I get updates for new versions of Adobe and Flash Player usually at startup. Never before received update notification like today while on a specific website-that was what's alarming to me.

And now there are pop up ads appearing at the top of the page from Guardian and when you click on the close these ads buttons it downloads Guardian apps on your computer so I had to "uninstall" that to.

A couple weeks ago, June 9th to be exact while on another website I got a similar deal on my laptop, Key Player/download that I can't uninstall.

That part about the tech support advertisements sounds kind of suspicious;  I never see those on BBG. Leo, do you?

When you say that another page opens for the Java update, do you mean a pop-up, or does it open an entire new browser window or new tab?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathon;

Yes, it looks suspicious to me, too. It opens another minimized browser window over the BBG window, but still looks and acts like a popup and very difficult to get rid of.

Am on my desktop now and so far none of that is taking place here. Regarding my laptop after that initial time on saturday it never did it before then nor after I got rid of them. Am just worried that something got into my laptop-will run a scan later today.
