Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Back in the old days the old mountain men would get together for a rendevous  , Tootie and I were just wondering who would be interested and like to join us in early Sept on Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee  for a Old fashion bluegill rendevouis . This wont be a fishing tournament but just a BBG get together for a good time catching fish, eating good, swapping flies and lies.  Does this not sound like too much fun ! We arn't getting any younger, let us know what you think!   LOFR

This is a great Idea and I would love to join if I could but september may be the wrong month for me to try an outing like this. For us "Northern Folk" an April trip down to that area would be great. Our winter is still usually hanging on at that time and we are itching to get off the ice and get some gills in the boat. It would be great if y'all were able to reserve a camp ground for us all to hang out together for a couple of days.  I would be hit or miss regardless of what you plan though as I have a young family and limited money but it's worth getting started!  I'll keep an eye out for your plans just in case I can sneak away...:)

April at Reelfoot is exciting but way too crowded and the weather is unpredictable at best. The shallow water coupled with the lack of shelter from the wind can make for a rough trip.

Thanks keith , let me get with Tootie and carl and see how that will fit in their time frame and we can firm up the date, As for the heat  we can fish early and late afternoon and stay out of the noonday sun, as for the pavillion , I wonder if they have a fire pit to set around and lie to each other ?     LOFR

HEY LOFR anytime is ok by me !!! If I'm still alive I'lll be there brother......

Nathanael, we would enjoy you company if you can make it , and who knows we might have so much fun that we might want to do it again in April after a long cold winter.    LOFR

Thanks, I know I would really enjoy hanging out with like minded 'Gillers and would really enjoy meeting y'all as well. The main issue for me is having a 9 and 4 year old that are very invlolved with many different things especially with school starting in September. It tends to be a really busy time of the year. The other issue is that I am a Real Estate agent and don't know what my income will look like that far ahead (its a strait commission job). So it's hard to put money aside for this sort of thing when I may need it to pay bills.... I may not make this one, but if there is a consistent once or twice a year get together I'll be able to make one at some point.  Y'all could always come up here and fish on one of my lakes? :) Which reminds me, I was able to bluegill fish with a local newspaper reporter, avid outdoorsman and writer Sam Cook last Wed.. He is going to have a feature story on Bluegills in the Duluth News Tribune this Sunday. He is going to feature our favorite fish and promote one of my favorite lakes, maybe it will give y'all the "itch" to come up and visit! :)  Go to http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/outdoors on Sunday and give it a read!

HEY NATE, HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT and we all would love to pic your brain for ideas of course. I"m an old fart but always willing to learn buddy......

The weekend before the full moon would be the best for me. But I might be able to squeeze in the Friday, Saturday and Sunday after.

pick a day guys!! im retired so it don't matter to me what day it is!!  just let me know; soon as you can; I need to make a few arrangements.  we need as many as we can get for this little wing ding!!  Nathaniel;; would love to meet you as well as all the others buddy!!  we MIGHT need some parental supervision when we meet!!

Lol, that's right, I'll keep y'all in line.... Fishing is the best tool I have to keep my kids in line so I've had a lot of practice....:)  At this point I will have to pass on this trip tho, as much as I would love to come down it just doesn't look realistic at the moment. If anything changes I would certainly let y'all know!

Ok Fishermen the date has been set ,the Big Bluegill  Rendezvous at Reelfoot Lake in Tn is the weekend of the 6th of Sept 2014, clear you calendar, sharpen your hooks, and bring an  appetite, fun , fish , fellowship, this is going to be fun , too bad Bruce is tied up carrying shopping bags in NYC, but the rest of yall make plans, this is the first, so what do yall say , dont you want to be a part of BBG History, I ask you wife and she told me it was ok with her so yall need to make plans now.  LOFR

COUNT ME IN OF COURSE , but lets be real bout it. LLLLLLLots of folks won't be able to come due to working schedules etc, time restrictions etc. Wished all could come but I know that is just not going to happen. Especially with all the knowledge on here to be shared.

So far it's looking like LOFR, ME , CARL , KEITH RITTER, AND MAYBE NATE...... CAN'T WAIT .....
