Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hi everyone. I live in South GA and fish mostly on Goose Creek which runs into the Altamaha. I catch a lot of them like this, and I always thought they were bluegill. But someone whose knowledge I respect is telling me it's a "flier." So what is this guy?

Thanks-Jennifer Cody

Hi Jennifer, welcome to BBG! Those fish appear to me to be Coppernose Bluegills. Nice ones too!

One of our members, Jeffrey Abney, catches some outstanding Fliers....check these out:http://bigbluegill.com/group/friends-of-the-fliers

Jennifer;;  do you live close to baxley ga. by any chance????

Carl, I live in Jesup! So, yes!

I agree with Tony - coppernose bluegill.

I'm with Walt and Tony...those fish appear to be coppernose bluegills...nice catch!

Both are Florida Strain Bluegill commonly referred to as Coppernose.......they turn into Georgia Giants down there.....Nice catch and welcome to BBG.com!

Those are some really nice coppernose!!  I am down here in central florida where these coppernose are beasts!

Nice fish! Not fliers though....
