Indeed it was. It warmed enough to melt the snow cover, which meant we were walking and fishing in slush, or 3" of very cold water on top of the ice. Not to mention that it rained pretty hard one day, with thunder and lightning......on the ice!
As a matter of fact, one BOW we fished had 4-5" of standing water on the ice. Twice, I drilled a hole only to be unable to fish it......the water was draining back down through it so hard that it created a whirlpool, and pulled the transducer float down with it!

Is the standing water on this ice from recent rains? I've never been on the ice so I was just curious.....
