Just be careful, John. dont let your zeal get you in trouble. The safe ice will come, buddy. Dont end up under it.

Just got back from spudding my way out...it's skinny ice, but may try to fish it tomorrow if the snow doesn't tear it up.

be very careful but fish those spring holes, ultra light and and a slip bobber

the pond I wanted to fish had a lot of springs in it, I later found out talking to a woman at work that lives by the pond, she said in the summer when she went swimming on the pond she could feel cold spots, when going to the other side of the pond. it has to be real cold to get good ice, you might have 2" in one area and 6 in another .thanks for the replies

The ice is close here, but not quite there yet. I've never gotten on before Christmas, so early ice would be a nice change. However, another round of snow is in the forecast tonight and tomorrow.....3-5". And that could kill my chances.

Mark ,glad youre here to tell the tale ,be safe man!! I have the itch but not rushing into anything guys . Early ice can be good fishing but nothings under the ice is worth dieing for ! Look forward to everyones reports!

I know that's not a good experience Mark. That the reasoning for 6" minimum for me and clear ice preferred.
