I hear ya something that's hard to do unless in a boat with a motor following surfacing baitfish and not rowing like the past two afternoons for me .

I'd say that is about right. They swarm their prey quickly and move on.
I've only caught them individually from shore. I have stumbled on them
in schools, in past excursions.
That's the goal... to find their schools.

Was after BG,WP,and YP with this tactic but yes it was serendipitous .Only one I got .I was drifting without a drift sock rather quickly which applies to my contention ,"white perch like it quick".

Were you targeting white perch, John, or was this a serendipitous
catch?

12" ARE  big!  Good luck Jim .These guys bang the lure and, for their size, fight hard as you well know . The one pictured was approaching 11 " I guess but didn't measure .It was all I could do to quell enough for a photo .Cut off his tail darn it !

12" whities are big, Jim. I'm sure you'll do well.
Let us know how you find and catch them, eh?

John...we are going for white perch tomorrow at Liberty Lake just west of Baltimore. 11 to 12 inchers, but the Striper Thugz use them for the big stripers...last weeks best fish was 36 pounds! Incredible! I just want some eater perch and I'll be happy!

That is one fish that is on my bucket list. Congrats on your catch, John!
