I do know just whatcha mean, Bob.  Between the float making, lure making, rod building, jig casting, fly tying, etc. I was having a tough time finding time to both fish and go to work.....So, I retired!

Thanks Dave but I like messing around making stuff

If you're not inclined to building them yourself, you can still find them at inkminers.com online.  6-8" and 8-10 sizes as well as a blunt version for the kids to run around with.  Tight lines!

Hi Bob, I have fished with porcupine quills all my life, and use them 90 % of the time, and use o-rings to attach the line to the quill before I run the line through the eyelet, so it stands up straight in the water, but I have never fished a quill with the eyelet on white end , all mine for years have had the eyelet on the skinny dark end, let me know how that works for you.   LOFR

So Bob you fish this float without any weight. Never used one but then again I don't use many floats anyway.

Where do you get the quills?
