The wife and I took our three daughters out to one of our favorite bluegill lakes.
Jenny Newman Lake at Platte River State Park, just between Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska is a small gem of a pond. Lots of little 12-14" bass that usually are pretty willing to bite, the occasional decent 8+ lb catfish, and bluegill, oh man the bluegill! It's a lake for kids 15 and under and those helping kids with total C&R regs on it including barbless hooks.
The first thing I notice when we were walking to our favorite spot, beds, big beds and lots of them!

And then the fishing commenced. I've got hopes to get my girls, Kenzie especcially on a 10" gill, an Nebraska Master Angler fish. Her first fish, I coulda swore was it while she was reeling it in. But alas, no one got a gill over 9.25".
Kenz, the toothless one!

It was good to get out with the family yesterday, the afternoon was dang near perfect. A touch on the windy side on occasion, but the sun was shining, and the fish were biting. Summer is around the corner, and I can't wait to get back out with the girls, there is nothing like watching them smile when they see that bobber go down!
