Do you love big bluegill?

I would be really interested in doing a fly swap. I am thinking panfish flies. Would anybody be interested?

We are going to do it the way that is explained in the crappie.com link
Bryce,
I agree with you that process is logical and as efficient as any....only thing we need is the address to send our 9 flies to and by what date........

i agree with this, its no problem to tie one extra fly that you get back to make the sorting much easier.

Ok so every person will tie 10 flies. Look over the crappie.com link and that is how we will conduct the swap. I will pm my address to all participants. If you haven't already pm me if you want to take part. If we don't get 10 participants, then we will just do it with the number we get. Pm me by Feb 20 if you would like to participate. I will send a message to all participants on the 21st with final details. Hopefully this helps clear things up

Status Update. I have received pm's from Bill Purmort, Allen Morgan, and Mike Way. Dick Kahle and Mark Stein said they were in, but I have not gotten a pm from them. Make sure that if you want to b a part in the swap to pm me as soon as possible. Also, let me know what kind of fly you will be tying. I am tying gurglers, Mike is tying his bluegill skunk, and Allen has claimed orange nymphs. Remember the deadline to pm me is Feb 20, then on the 21st I will pm all who are apart of the swap. Thanks for the cooperation and patience guys.

I am tying 28 flies a month for swaps. Before I can commit to this swap I would need to know for sure when the flies would have to be mailed.  It would be unfair of me to join in and do a rush job with poor results or find I couldn't meet the commitment.

I think that the deadline to mail the flies out should be two weeks from the start of the swap. Would that be fair for everyone or do you have other suggestions.

I can commit to that, two weeks is plenty of time for me to turn out a batch. Thanks.

Are you in for sure then?

yes I am sure

I got 9 flies tied up the night I agreed.  Later that night, my laptop almost fried itself. I'll get another tied up here soon.  I'm going to try to get a pic up as well so you all can see what I'm tying.

Ok, that's the bug I've tied.  It's based on the "Orange Nymph" pattern from the Fly of the Week on the FAOL website.  I'd post a link, but I'm not sure about this forum's rules & regs about posting links to other forums.

Anyways, I made a couple changes to the original pattern.  I added a flashback, and the abdomen is ribbed with brass wire.  This is for added "sparkle" to help attract fish in lower-light levels.  Also, the bead is a silver-colored bead, instead of brass.  Again, added sparkle.

Size12 hook.  Tail and legs are Golden Pheasant feather fibers.  Brass wire ribbing, large holographic Flashabou, and orange embroidery thread for the body.  Thorax is peacock herl, twisted into a rope.
