Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

The "Perquimans Pickle" with the painted blade...

This is a unique little beetle with a 1/32 jig coupled with a 1/16 lime green painted blade. This mimics a population of juvenile shad that are prolific in the Albemarle Sound..

Thanks, Jeff. I found me some at Netcraft and ebay.

The man that sells them gave me a couple to test claiming I would stop Bluegill fishing.....he was half right......I keep this rig tied on with me so I can throw on busting white perch....He hand paints the blades David.......White Perch here like it moving along at a steady pace short of burning but pretty quick......Not sure on the paint type Leo I'll ask him when I see him again.....I experience the same here John.......

Only masters of the waters know exactly what to customize. By the way, is that UV glow treated or just normal harden bright paint?

A faster retreive usually runs close to the surface I suspect but you can pull them up from  below I believe .

I do encounter them most often when bank fishing, by running a slip sinker rig o nthe bottom. Bait has been worms, each time.

But, as you know, I'm always looking for another way to do this fishing thing.  I was curious as to just how deep and how fast your retrieval runs on white perch.

However, yes David I dont fail to employ my idea and it often works well in my home lake1

"I have experienced that White Perch very often prefer a speedy retrieve, more so than other pannies caught with slow or moderate paces in the same area. They seem to be specific to that speed and depth..."

Would you offer a general rule of thumb along these lines, John?

Please tell me Jeffrey .I have experienced that White Perch very often prefer a speedy retreive moreso than other pannies caught with slow or moderate paces in the same area. They seem to be specific to that speed and depth .Do you find this at all true in your experience?

Jeff,

Did you paint the blades yourself or purchase them that way?
