Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Does anyone use marabou jigs for bream? If so I want to know some of your favorite colors so I can tie some up and try them next spring.

I use marabou jigs sometimes usually tipped with a wiggler. I use any combination of red, green, and white and have decent success. I really prefer feather jigs and really like black and green still usually tipped with a wiggler, that is my go to. Hope this helps.
About the only one I tie is a thick Peacock Herl body ( Gold wire reinforced ) and a whatever colored tail. Something about Peacock Herl and 'gills, they just can't help themselves. You may wish to play around with classic nymph, scud, minnow and wet fly patterns on a jig, continue to work better than most think, since you'e tying. Actually throw plastics 90% of the time these days but still love to tie for casting or flyrod
Solid colors are most commonly used where I live, especially white, chartruece or yellow, but there is a classic marabou pattern that seems to really work well on most panfish. It has a red head, black body and white tail. Maybe someone knows the correct name for this old school jig?
I tye a bunch of different patterns using marabou. Solid black and solid silver have caught the majority of the big BGs we catch in Lake Perris.
What color heads do you use?
I like a silver or black head. Check out jigcraft.com for some tutorials & gallery of some big bluegill catching jigs.
I have had very good success with black, brown, olive and beige. I have been experimenting with pink and orange and light brown where freshwater shrimp are a forage source. LedHeds brown/orange football heads tied with brown crafthair ( my addition ) has been good back east.
