Great article Jim, a good and interesting read. I've been to the Rodmaker's Shop you mentioned several times and it's amazing the variety of rods they have, most out of my price range, but cool to see nonetheless.

JB...I'll try to dig up the rod maker of the Stradivarius model that Zig uses. I actually got to use that rod on a Susquehanna River panfish trip we took a few years ago. Awesome piece of equipment.
But check out Walts' custom rods...I've heard great things about them.

I do make such rods, and thanks for the mention, Tony. I had thought I was the first to use a 2-weight fly rod blank thusly, but evidently I was not. At any rate, it makes a pretty sweet bluegill rod if you select the right blank.

Perhaps Walt Foreman will weigh in on this.... he built me a six and a half foot ultralight out of a 2-weight fly rod blank.....works great, and a lot of fun to boot!

zigsjigs.com is now a domain parking site/redirect to a site selling sports jerseys, but I was fascinated by the description of the rod Zeigler uses (7-foot 2-weight fly rod blank built into UL spinning rod) and would love to learn more about that if anyone knows. Particularly, what blank/blanks does he use for that? Seems like a great use of a slow-action 2-weight blank?
