Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I just returned from a two day fishing trip at the Detroit River, just south of Detroit, where big Lake Erie walleye move through and spawn each year. This year the weather as always was more winterlike than springlike. The night before we got there it rained buckets and cooled down overnight. It turned from rain to a heavy slushy snow. We were fortunate to have a good boat cover and only about 1-2 inches of snow. The next morning we launched the boat on a slush covered ramp and fished in 25 mph winds and snow and sleet. That stubborness paid off when myself, my dad, one of my uncles, and a family friend all boated big walleye. We had two that went over 6 lbs., and several in the 3-5 lbs. range.
We don't find eyes like that in Indiana. Not on a regular basis anyway.

Check out some pics on my page.

Now that we have lower body temps and some fat walleye fillets in the freezer we can prepare for some crappie and bluegill fishin' to warm us up!

Thanks Doug, but I wouldn't consider myself the Walleye King. My dad outfishes me every time we go up there. He's left-handed, so I just like to think there are more left-handed walleye biting up there. :)
