Do you love big bluegill?
Fishing 11 mph nw winds
Im planning on going out tommorrow and driving 70 miles to fish in 11mph winds. Did it a few weeks ago and with a float 4 ft of leader and a red and white 1/80 jig I slaughtered some nice 8-10 inch bluegill and about 9 crappie. Wind did all the work for me. I live to tip my jigs with a little piece of meal worm. anyone have any good tips on panfishing windy conditions?

I live in Wichita, so wind is almost always here. I like to use a slip bobber with a fairly heavy drop shot on the end a 1' leader about 1' above with a floating head jig tipped with a waxie or what ever works where I'm fishing

Stephen I personally like enough breeze/wind to create a little ripple in the water I'm fishing. I try as often as I can to put the wind at my back to not make casting difficult....I personally don't change my bait/lure based on wind other than increasing weight to help with the casting....Good luck with the gills!

Wow that's just a very light prairie breeze here in Oklahoma. Wish that was the least amount we deal with most outtings. Guess it's all in what you're raised with.

forgot to ask Stephen .Using a boat I presume .What depth did your bg's and Crappie hit at ? Close to bottom?,suspended?

Nwest winds huh.Drifting (perhaps with a drift sock) with bait tipped jigs or split shotted #10 hooks over points and into coves in the East/SE would be what i would try .Good luck
