Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

HATS OFF TO BILL MODICA...SPOON GURU!

Hey y'all, I don't know how many have seen it yet, but the latest In Fisherman magazine ( May 2011) has an outstanding feature article by our own Bill Modica on the pleasures and pursuits of using spoons for big gills! This is exciting stuff, as bill has long been advocating the use of these techniques on this site. Detailed rigs and tactics are again focused, as are many of his tutorial videos found on this site.

Like many of you, I was somewhat skeptical when I first read and heard about Bill's spoonin' gig. But after several solid efforts, it payed of with numbers and big fish to boot! I have caught several bluegills and hybrids over 11 inches using his techniques and would encourage all to read this excellent piece.

A big congrats, Bill! Great work!

So cool.  An actual feature article!  Just got done reading it a second time.  That would be a big feather in ANY writer's cap.

Way to go Bill, congratulations!  In-Fisherman is one of the very best fishing magazines out there.

I haven't tried that technique, but I will give it a try.

Over the last few months, I have tried to maintain a bit of internet silence pending the release of this article......after more than 12 years of research and refining of this technique, it was time for me to reveal it to the fishing world.......an innovation that was  never covered before. My first descriptions of this technique were posted right here at bigbluegill.com (The only site I felt worthy of its content).....Having my work published in the In-Fisherman magazine is truly beyond my wildest dreams....(I'm still pinching myself).

I believe that none of this could have been possible without the existence of BBG.com, and all of the great people here that I've managed to surround myself with. This site and its members gave me the incentive, and motivation to write this article for national publication.......and I thank you all.

I stopped by my folks house yesterday (in their 80's), and I dropped off a copy of the mag.....the look in their eyes confirmed to me that this was one of my life's great accomplishments.

Congratulations, Bill.  I can't wait to see the article!  In a world where so many articles in magazines are just simply re-hash of old articles, Bill's approach is something new and refreshing.  Bill, you are a huge asset to this site and I hope you always hang out here with us.
