Do you love big bluegill?
Im a 'returnee' you might say. For years all I ever did was fish. But in the past 15 years or so, that has fallen away in favor of other things. Oh, I kept a few items of tackle, just enough should I decide to wet a line once in a while. But for the most part, I just quit going.
Recently, I moved to my dads house and 'inherited' all his fishing gear.** This has inspired me to get back into fishing.
** For the record my dad is fine... he just moved to a senior living complex
So now, I'm selling off my other hobbies - guitars, metal detectors, some guns and model airplanes. This is what I like to call 'fund re-allocation'. It will be a journey, for sure.
Too, had to decide what I wanted to fish for. Here in South Carolina's Midlands there are really only the Big 4: Bass, Panfish, Catfish and Striper. Toss in carp and there you go.
Bass and striper are too gear intensive and costly for me. At my age, you learn to little baout yourself - - I'm not really a "Go Big or Go Home," kinda person. "Nice and Easy" is more my style. So this leaves catfish, panfish and carp.
Hey, I can do that! So I'm getting re-started. They say it is always harder to restart something, then to start it anew. I think they are right.
But even the longest of journey's begins with the first step. So here I am.
