Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Howdy Y’all

On the off chance we took a trip to a AG&FC Lake (medium sized pond) here near town just for a easy place to wet a hook.

Imagine our surprise when we start getting hit buy catfish almost as fast as we could throw in a line, it was like starving piranha.

Pretty fast we had 3 Channel Cats one weighing 3 lb’s and the others at 1 ½ and 2 lb’s.

They have a 3 per person limit on cats so before long we were culling our catch to keep the best of the herd.

There were a few greens and a pair of gills all peckerfish even bait size.

Now as the evening wore on we attached our lights and still they were hitting mostly smaller cats that were just tossed back in.

The night was complete at 2200 as the bite stopped and we couldn’t get a nibble, well tired out from net work and un-hooking treble hooks we filled our cooler with water and dumped in the cats.

When we got home I drained the cloudy lake water and replaced it from the hose so I could take the

Tub O’ Cats picture.

We’ll enjoy that lake for the easy use and close drive.

The nights tally ended up being:

1 3 lb 19” M

1 2 lb 18” M

4 1 ¾ lb 16” M

Tasty filets yummy dinner for us.

Yours in service

James and Kathy
