Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I have been told by 2 different people that there is a old school technique of fishing for crappie. The way it was explained to me is to cut below the lip of a crappie, pull on some type of membrane underneath and a forked tongue shaped piece of something will come off . You use this to jig with and it drives them wild. Has anyone ever heard of this?

To bad we don't have some way of showing how to do it. I don't remember this one.

The only "old school thing " I ever saw was when an old man caught his first crappie he stuck another hook on it attached to a mono line and the other end of the line he attached a balloon ,then he released it . Crappie being social fish headed back to the school, and he followed the balloon to where the school was, dont know if this was legal or ethical, but at least he wasn't using dynamite.      LOFR

Leo, The throat of all fish will work but the crappie is thinner and works best!!!!!! It is really tough when you get on the jig!!!!!!!

WOW! That's a whole brand new thing I have yet to learn. Great tip Stephen. Will try this on the next catches.

Stephen, Yes cut the whole membrane out thread the the center on the jig!!!!! It kind of looks like a bat on the jig!!!! Not only CRAPPIE but everything will hit it looks like a minnow with a lot of movement!!!!! Although I am not that old, it works!!!!!!

No,  I have never heard of this.  Did they get this from a series of techniques you pay for?  If thry did, why not try it.  See if their is some validity to what they are selling.
