What type of animal is a bluegill?
It is small approx 65 x35 feet, ground water fed no springs. I built an areation system using a VFD and a 3 phase motor driving a Gast rotary compressor that runs 24/7 365 days a year. I use Aqua-Fix additives as well as aqua-shade. The fish growth and health is very good. There are a variety of fish including lake shiners, perch, rock bass, bluegills, catfish. I feed them Purina Fish Chow about 2 cups per day.

There is probably twice that number as the crawdads eat them up when they sink. One thing that caused it was my areator shut down from a power outage and didn't restart. Alas, but I was in Chicago working and when I came home the pond was a solid chunk of ice. Sooo, I get to start over again. I intend to dredge the pond this summer to get… Continue

Welcome, Jacob!!!

Thanks for joining the Big Bluegill crew. I hope you enjoy the pictures, stories, and humor (if you'd really call it that). We hope this will be a fun site for bluegill enthusiasts to check in on every once in a while.

Your pond sounds really cool. I'd love to see a picture of it someday.

Do you ring a dinner bell when you walk down to the water with the food. I know several people who do this and its so funny how they start rushin the dock. DING DING DING and a dip net. Who needs a cricket when you gotem trained.
