Glad to have you as a friend. Was reading my last message, clarify the "5 lber" I was talking about was a bass. Where on the Peace River is Prairie Creek? What boat ramp do you put in at to get there? With this rain we are getting there should be plenty of water I would think. I am redoing my home I little to make it easier to pull the boat out and go fishing. My house had a carport but I screened it in some years ago to make a porch. But then I had to put my boat in the backyard so instead of just backing up the truck, hitching up and going since I could keep all the necessary gear in the boat [covered carport] I have had to pull my boat around to the front of the house, take all the necessary gear out of my shed or my utility room, load it up and then go. It really isn't that much to do of course but I find myself using it as an excuse not to. So..... I am reopening up my carport to put my boat back under it. I need to go fishing more.... As long as I am working on the carport I am screening in the front door stoop. This weather has been hampering me a bit. That's why i am on the computer now. Was going to put a second coat of paint on but with this rain it will takes alot longer to dry. Will have to wait until tomorrow. Let me know if you want to hook up and do some fishing. We could meet at the Peace River boat ramp. Well let me sign off. I am going to one of my deer hunting spots to see if any deer have come out. With the evening, cooler weather from this big storm and right after the rain they might be coming out. Still too soon for looking at rack size but I can see if any are sporting velvet to let me know if there will be something worthwhile for the fall hunting. Love archery!
See ya!!!!

I live in Avon Park and while I have wanted to fish the Peace River I never had gotten over to it so I don't know where Prairie Creek is. I thought about putting in at Wachula below the bridge, at Pioneer Park or at another place I can't think of the exact name of. If you continue on US17 below Zolfo Springs and cross Charlie Creek, several miles down is a small town to the right that has a boat ramp. I believe the road either goes thru or borders the old Blue Head Ranch. North of there at Fort Meade or where Hwy 60 passes over are boat ramps but people have told me that those area can be extremely ifffy if the water is low??? Love to toss the ole' flyrod or cast the ultra-light. And I enjoy landing that big ole "copperhead" or "jumbo cracker" on fly or ultralight as much as a 6lber on 8lb spinning. I don't see any satisfaction in landing a 5lber on 65lb test SuperLine while flipping with a rod I could use as a pool cue. To each their own but that not my thing. I used to get into all the "hussle" of modern fishing but have found I more enjoy just the relaxing side of it. I fish Arbuckle Creek over my way but it's very ifffy with low water too. One problem fishing these areas is not necessarily getting downstream but getting back upstream. I have wanted to drift Arbuckle Creek for an extended length and time but unless the water is running really high to get back upstream with a gas motor (strong current) you have to have someone park their truck at a lower ramp so that you just pull the boat out there and drive back to where you put in. I don't find many people interested in my line of thinking. I find many who rather prefer a bassboat on Lake Kissimmee with a 250 on the back. I did that years back but never found it enjoyable. I do enjoy throwing topwater (twitching a rapala my favorite) on light spinning in the early morning or late evening but racing about at 70 mph to three dozen different "hotspots" and casting a dozen different lures like your life depended on it stopped me from the enjoyment of the fishing itself as well as the peace of being on the water.
