Hey Bill, What part of SC do you fish ? I had a kayak but never felt comfortable in it. I wade a lot and fish from a jon boat and sometimes from a 19' pontoon. But I have the best luck fishing private ponds. I have permission to fish the best Copper-Head ponds I have ever seen. In may I will be going to Triple Tree. They have the worlds largest radio-control Giant-Scale airplane meet in the world. (search the web for Joe Nall meet)

It's great because you can watch these huge model airplanes fly  the entire time you are fishing in a  well stocked lake or a smaller pond. My first year there I quit counting somewhere near 100 BG and 40 Bass all in one day. I ran out of the Carolina spiders that I tie. (some broke off but many more just "tore-up" by the fish.), Maybe we can share some water sometime this year...Don...keep in touch.

Hey Bill...sorry to see that you feel this site is lacking in information aimed at catching bluegills and other big panfish. Perhaps I can help...

You may have already done this, but I would suggest that you check out the several dozen groups that we have here, some of which are state specific, some by specie and others by technique and tackle, that are, in my opinion, a wealth of bluegill and panfishing info. There are blogs and info about the spoon-fishing craze for bluegills...an absolutely dynamite technique for many panfish species, by Bill Modica. There are tutorials on making and tying jigs and flies specifically designed to fool big panfish. There are blogs on catching panfish in small streams and much fly fishing info here from our regulars. Plus, there is a heap of live bait and crankbait talk as well...literally something for everyone. I sure hope there is something here for you, as well as some exciting stories about our anglers success.

I must say, I have learned more from this site than all the other panfishing sites I have viewed...combined!

If you have specific questions on anything, please fell free to ask it in a forum or blog and I think you'll get some positive response. I recently asked for help on spooky, spawning redears and I got more than 20 responses that I feel will make me better able to get those fish the next time out.

Keep in mind, Bill, we are all here to help each other. We hope we can be of service to you!
