Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

When I was just a youngster growing up summers on the lake I was obsessed with casting a spinning set-up its maximum distance. The tiny 1/32 oz pinky jig caught the b.crappies and b.gills well back in the day. Casting further meant more fish in the boat at a quicker pace with better odds. So I used to top off the spools as best as I could and experimented with level to the edge. Of course getting a few casts out there was impressive until the dreaded wind knots settled in with the mono jumping off the spool.
Today I still feel that way… constantly pushing the envelope… to cast that tiny bait the greater distance with strength and sensitivity. Ive just recently come up with a great combination of rod, reel and line. Get the line close to the edge and casting distance increases and it does just that without unusual amounts of wind knots. The wider spool breaks up the tight parallelism associated with narrower spools… line pulling the adjacent line next to it before its turn is one of the causes of wind knots. The Gliss line is strong, slick, supple and thin and casts a mile.

tracy ... im currently having no problem at all with the line... i am totally hooked on it. i put alot of time on the water and cast the heck out it. it performs well. the fraying or coming apart is noted when casting for some time on the last 6" or so and i do retie at least once a day. not bad for .004 thickness material. one does that with 2# mono many more times a day because of weakness developed when casting... not as durable as braid but close and it casts further.

ive noticed the coating will wear more when a slip knot is slid up and down on the length of line... that being said i don't recommend for float fishing... i use braid on my slip/float systems.

i have two setups that have gone thru nearly 2 full seasons on the spool they still look brand new

i get the line for $12/150 yd spool

what is your opinion on Gliss? ive been thinking of switching one of my reels from 832 to that but read some reviews where some of the spools of line would come apart while other spools would do just fine. it seems like a quality assurance problem with the glue or binder that they are using.
