thanks guys! our approach to gills that are in weeds and reeds Is to get the boat position perfect so that if there is two or more of us in the boat we can fan cast our slip bobber rigs in and out of the thick stuff and cover as much area as we can before moving on. Using the wind to our advantage we will anchor up wind so that the wind can carry our bobbers farther into the weeds if need be. once in the water, let sit idle for a couple minutes, and if nothing then we start popping the bobbers back toward the boat this usually turns a looker into a biter especially if its tipped with one of Dicky's hair jigs!! with the boat positioned out in a little deeper water away from the actual weeds this gives us a chance to also drop small ice tungsten jigs tipped with the smallest piece of worm over the side of the boat to get the ones that are out roaming in and out of the weeds. I like using tungsten for the jigging presentation with light line. it is a heavier jig that falls faster in deeper water, keeps the line tight, and still small enough of a jig to entice them to take a nibble. this is our method of fishing weed and reed structure areas. thanks again guys!!
what you would call a very impressive gill!! congrats to ya Clayton!!
