Do you love big bluegill?
Most fish were marking from 12' down to right at the bottom........a few rain drops started as I began to wrap it up today

Pretty interesting Ken.......I use every advantage I can get to locate and stay on fish.......it's what we're out there to do..most times it's trial and error and next thing you know you don't leave home without it! Been there, done that!
Leo... i have an Elite 7 HDI and I love it. It is truly my eyes underwater and wont fish in my boat without it. There was one memorable instance last summer where I launched my boat started up the motor and discovered I left my finder at home. I packed up drove home to go get it before setting out again. An hour wasted but I believe it would have been a wasted afternoon fishing without it.
I went shopping online for an Elite 4 for my kayak and discovered the ice unit was on sale for 269.00 after rebate. I am very familiar with this unit. Friends of mine fish lake St Clair and Saginaw bay with this unit by traveling large expanses of ice using this units GPS and attached to their ATVs snowmobiles or 4wls. Then once they reach their way point they unsnap the unit from their ATV and reattach it to the portable Lowrance ice unit with transducer and rechargeable 12 volt battery. They then proceed to sight fish jigs for walleyes. You actually see the fish attacking the jig. You don’t see any fish in the hole… move to the next.
Because I own the Elite 7 HDI I would be able to share all the lake maps and way points I have created with and share with the Elite 4 via micro sd. Pretty excited about it.
Second that motion. I'll be getting a third job.
LOL. You can find fishes in the general areas that you know will generate good fishes. But when it comes to finding secret golden spots, you need the advance techs. Will be upgrading wife's kayak with an Lowrance Elite 7 HDS, since she's complaining about not able to see the structures to attack. Good grief. I've created a monster..
Nothing is like having a good to great fish finder. Used mine today on the water to look for a few new structures that I didn't have a chance to find on my float tube before. Got some good photos of fish stacking up from 12 to 42ft at a 68ft depth. Never have a chance to search the depths of Lake Perris during high traffic days due to safety and windy conditions. Now, I found some more golden spot for those notorious CNs and BGs that LedHed have been hauling up. 6 glorious tall structures, stacked to the gills, that made me smile unceasingly.
Totally agree Ken.....if I fished solely on reservoirs today I would want the most advanced fish finder available.....it would also be interesting to go back where I fished today with advanced technology and see how well my mental map of the strike zone is...the model I have will through a little fish on the screen with a depth marking, I most often saw 12 to 15 today......I set my stuff at that depth and stayed in contact with the biting fish....
I've got a comparable-model Eagle sonar on my kayak. It has helped, some.......
I've seen guys with the high-dollar new-fangled side-scan things on kayaks. Sweet Jeebus! The sonar probably cost more than the boat!
