Such dark water here at home Tony I do believe the bright colors whether it be pink, blue ice or in this case chartreuse helps to get the fish there and live bait closes the deal....Several times I returned the bait untipped with little success......I didn't fish plain crickets yesterday but feel I could have caught fish that way.....When I was in the big channel cats I considered it, to get the # 6 circle hook out there but I stuck it out and still landed a decent channel cat on this micro........I'm a creature of habit but I have enjoyed changing it up a little to see what happens.....

THANKS LEO!! THE ones you are refering to are regular bead heads in Olive body with Chartreuse legs and tail I believe.

HEY TONY,

NOTHING TO BAFFLE YOU ABOUT HERE : I normally don't use any live bait or tip my baits with anything. I personally think it's the size , # 12 mustad dry fly hook with hollow bead, and the color is absolutely essential. I've tried these in alot of different color combinations , but the Chartreuse and Black seem to be best with Yellow and Red a good second choice. I dreamt these up about 12 years ago and have had some great success with em over the years. I think alot of guys find one thing that works and stick with it without trying new stuff. That's my opinion anyway for what it's worth.
On top of all that Sir Jeffrey seems to have the knack for catching fish and could probably do it with a bare hook!!!!! I believe he is an exceptional fisherman , and just happened to be using my inventions today.

It's the kryptonite green! LOL I have tons of success with chartreuse. Same deal with Tooty's first bead head in that color too. They hit like it was candy.

HEY SIR JEFFREY,
I NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEVER USE LIVE BAIT AND MAY HAVE TO CONSIDER IT!!!! I will send you some with bigger hooks cause I'd hate to Sir Jeffrey loosing big fish to an extra small hook!!!!!!!!! My son did catch a 17 lb. cat on a regular bead head once and took a half hour to get it in , PURPLE COLOR, of course.

It's hard to tell where the jig stops and the cricket begins. The combination doesn't "look" like anything remotely similar to a real creature, what do you suppose accounts for your success Jeffrey?

A splash of color on an otherwise drab cricket? Does the jig impart anything else to the cricket besides color..... did you by chance fish the jig untipped, or the cricket by itself?

Could the lack of fishing pressure make the fish more willing, and less wary?

Certainly can't argue with success, but something here baffles me! thinking

Worked it under a float with a tiny split shot for a faster sink....Fished it both spin casting and on my telescopic....30 inches down today, fish are going a little deeper but still around shallow cover.....This is a micro version....Tooty makes regular sized bead heads also in many different colors.......I lost a few big fish today because of the small hook but I also caught 8 different species!
