I really like # 6 Circle hooks for gills.....I used Long Shank hooks for years trying to avoid the gut hooking but it would still happen....The catch ratio is also higher with circle hooks in my opinion and you get a lip/jaw hook set 99% of the time.....I do change them out after every trip because they dull down quicker with that needle point...My preference but this may be over kill.....

I love those hooks! No hook set needed! But it is kind of hard to hook on crickets, it gives the big ones more time to bite you! Beautiful fish btw.
