Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I have landed numerous bluegill in the cove in the fall. Side casting will get a surface fly gently lighting in the back, producing the take.

Hi John

The chartreuse popper is the boggle bullet, a great popper to use when the fish are not very active. Tin the unique thing about this popper is its subsurface; when moved---it pops back to the surface once it is still. The take is when it is sitting still. The other popper is a white boggle bug size 10, my go-to popper in the spring. I live in Jasper, Alabama, which is where Smith Lake is located, about 25 minutes from my house. It is the only lake I usually fish in because it is loaded with huge gills and spotted bass. I wish you lived closer so we could make a few trips. Thanks for the comment

Great photo and account, Bill. Where is this? I'm from northeast New Jersey.
