Literally...these fish can easily peel 30 ft or more of drag on 2 pound test, accompanied with several strong, powerful surges on the way in. With ultra light gear or a 2 wt fly rod, you simply have to play them out.

Jim I have never fished anywhere that holds the hybrids. If they fight like a cracker they are a great fighting fish. Thanks for the info.

Yup.... a hybrid tied tail-to-tail with a native Bluegill of comparable size would pull that poor Gill' backwards.....

Big hybrids and big Redears rule the roost when it comes to fighting ability.

Ronnie...are you kiddin'? Hybrids are at the top of the charts on panfish fighting ability. I believe they are way stronger and enduring fighters than the bluegill.

To me hybs and big shellcrackers fight about the same...tough!

Nice hybrid bluegill! Does the hybrid gills fight as good as the reg bluegills.
