How many times I gotta tell you fish with a main vain..... A dark center line.... You gotta soak em in ice water in the fridge over night..... That meat requires blood drainerge! Put a couple table spoons of salt in it and it will work even better for the bigger ones!

You teach and give and teach and give and still all they wann do is set a hook and eat it!

Aren't they fun?? The hybrids I've caught aren't nearly as big as those two in the picture...I'm still hopeful! What did you catch 'em on?

Thanks for setting me straight there David. White bass and Striped bass would make more sense huh... I hear they're starting to feed pretty good here at the Spillway. I may have to put on some new line and go fight a few before my weekend of bream fishing.

Hey Jeff... yeah I cooked em on the grill. They were stronger tasting than I prefer, but I ate em anyway. Even when I cut out that dark strip of meat that runs down the center of the fillet, they were still pretty strong tasting to me. I still like to catch em but I think it'll be catch and release from now on.

We've got 'em here too, but they are only stocked in a few lakes/reservoirs. Once in the reserviors, they'll populate the river upstream to the next impassable dam, and downstream just about forever!
They are a white bass x striped bass hybrid.

That was 10 and 11 lbs on 12 pound Stren. That was a fun morning of fishing on the Spillway off the Barnett Reservoir. Folks around here call em stripers but they're actually hybrids. I belive they're a combination of white bass and Florida bass but don't quote me on that. That's just what I've heard... At any rate, they're fun to catch!
