you can measure your quill and use it to cull the size fish you want , look at the fish in my photos , that quill is 8 and 1/4 inches long, guess how big that fish was?, in Mr. De Mile I'm ready for my close up.     LOFR

P.S. I prefer using the quills in the 6 to 10 inch range but I keep a variety for different situations, whats tough is using minnows for crappy with the bigger quills because the swimming minnows make the tips of the quill move.    LOFR

I,ve been using quills for the last  50 years and havent found anything any more sensitive, and they come from the African porcupine and when used right you can also use them as a depth finder , put o-rings on them and balance them with just enough weight to make them stand straight up while fishing, and watch the tip , fish dont have to take it under to know you have a fish on the hook, you can even till if it's licking it., also the white end of the quill goes on top.     LOFR

First time I have fished one Mike, and they do seem to be very sensitive and that is a nice feature....

Bob those are gorgeous.  How do you make them?   I've seen porcupine quills and they're not any where near that big.  What are the quills from?
