Nice Jeff!  Years ago there was an article in "Aquarium" magazine about these great little sunfish, even talked about the possibility of spawning them.  To me they look like a dark blue sunfish with light spots…BLUE Spotted Sunfish!  Wouldn't it be great if these fish grew to large Bluegill or Redear sizes and could survive outside their small natural habitat area? Imagine catching a one pounder!

Thanks guys......The size isn't the attraction for obvious reasons with Spotted Sunfish but the chance to catch very rare sunfish has always intrigued me as an angler.......The blue spotted might be the smallest I've ever caught but really cool looking fish for sure......I've even caught these little guys in my crab nets on Lake Mattamuskeet as they tear at the bait for little morsels of chicken........and I've had them hit 1/32 ounce jigs before.....aggressive little fish keeps them going despite being on every predator's grocery list.....
