Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Stopped by my community lake on the way home and chunked the spoon. Caught a couple small Crappie....These fish were stocked fingerlings in 2008.

I think there should just be a small bag limit at least, the crappie for sure.  I think it would help out, but if it is mainly for kids this will give them the fish they need.

I bet it is still fun.

I don't think I could go for C& R only. If I had paid my share to stock the thing, well... I'd want to reap the catching benefit along with children smiling.

I reckon the future generations should be taught the idea of stewardship for benefit, not just aquarium keeping and fishing in a barrel. Maybe I'm just too mean.

I believe you're right on Zach....this is a place that people feed resident Canadians and there is no cover.....It does have three aerators but it is basically a sand pit with eight feet of water...

The eye sure is large on that fish, I wonder if they do not have enough to eat.  May want to consider pulling a few of them Crappie out of the lake, if this is the 4th year they have been in there I bet it is just full of them little guys.

We've voted for our community lakes to be  Catch and Release only so it's nice to see all the little kids catching panfish in the Spring......This is all it takes to make kids grin ear to ear...just a little Crappie or Gill.....And yes, we put a couple hundred Channel Cats and Largemouth in these little lakes that are becoming Apex!
