Honestly, all were picture worthy.  If caught anywhere else.  I caught one fish that was 2+ on this trip.  Bruce actually has those photos.  The friend I shared the boat with over the weekend caught two over 2 pounds, 2 even and 2.25.

The first 'picture worthy' fish was a 1-12...sheeeesh! So...what was the second picture worthy fish?

Jim, I believe they're holding those 2.5 to 4lbs in a special underground lair, only the creme de la creme will have the privilege to catch those..

So...like....I feel you guys might be holding back a little. Where are the pics of the 2.5 to 3 pounders?

It's like gigantism!

Good grief. They look more like circular UFO from the Mill every time someone posts photos of them.

A small cricket is what caught this fish.  And all others for that matter.  I believe it was the combination of being an insect, a readily available and eaten forage item, as well as being the same color and approximate size as a pellet.

I am curious, how big was the bait that caught this huge Bull?

Absolutely right....I believe one of the best things an angler can do to improve his/her chances of consistently catching  the older, usually larger specimens is to offer them something they haven't seen before, and are not wary of..

An unpressured fish will be wary of very little, which makes them prone to hit a much wider assortment of baits/lures, and technique and finesse is simply not as important. Perhaps It's not always a testament to the angler's abilities to produce fish...maybe, it simply means that the fish themselves are unconditioned to fishing pressure, and this lack of 'education' makes them easier to catch.

The size of the BOW in question, along with the population density of fish present, are factors which would surely influence how much time, or fishing pressure would be required to condition the fish...at least in my opinion. I have stated many times that the fish in our HBG pond are becoming increasingly difficult to catch....but, I fish there every day, and I practice catch and release...couple that with a pond that is roughly 2/3 acre in size, and you end up with fish that have 'seen it all'....and are very wary.
