Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Short trip on the Lumber River,NC. Caught 30-40 in about 3 hours. Trying to get it in then build an ark for this weekend. Forecast 5-6 inches of rain. They were on the bed.

These are very nice and the colors are consistent with what we see down on the Edisto River for spawning RBS..more like an orange during the spawn which turns into a "garnet" type red color the rest of the year....nice going Larry.......

Yeah I had not considered it is the first of August! The males were spraying and females packed with eggs. I guess it true they bed every month as long as the water temp is right. I floated over a couple of beds and saw them running out. Lumber River is around 77* this time of year.

Wow! I was going to say they looked to have spawning colors, but...on bed in August? That's crazy, but soooo cool! Excellent catch!
