Yep, mods are part of the fun. I do have a milk crate, dink, it's as Allen says... Off there to the right. In future pics I'll share a look at it. I'm working out some low profile rod holders for it, too, since the vertical sort get in the way when the bushes drop low. I'm a minimalist and always looking to get rid of something else.

@ Leo - all the various mods you can do for a kayak are half the fun of having one.  Many of the kayak fishing boards have an entire sub-forum dedicated to mod's.

@ dink, I think his crate is in the truck bed, up near the cab, passenger side.

looking good david ,a milk crate would fit good in the back and pvc in the corners of the crate make good rod holders.

@ Dilly - thanks buddy. It is a ton of fun.

@ Leo - the perspective makes it look big - its not hard to single hand, really. Back the truck down, slide it til it tips off the tailgate and voila!
I keep some old rugs in the back and a rubber floor mat back there to facilitate this. Reloading it is a pretty basic reverse of this procedure.

I can have it off the truck in the water, rigged, and leaving shore in ten minutes. If I didnt have to waste time parking the truck, it would be less.

Cool!! Glad you got it.  I hope it brings you much enjoyment, in your different fishing environments.  Have fun!!

Wow, now that's a heck of a tool to load and unload.  Imagine the possibility of mods on that baby.

Have you ever watched Jim Sammon's video on "exploding the wader myth" on youtube?  Man, he can re-enter a yak in about 1 second flat!

@ Allen - youre right, registrations varies from place to place. As long as your vessel is human powered, SC offers no restrictions.

Water entries are like getting on a surf board, in a way. SOT kayaks are very buoyant, being essentially hollow. You tip it toward you, reach in from outside, and grab a hand hold - mine has a cleat that works for this. Then you roll it back and let it's buoyant "lift" get you onto the side. Then you slither and clamber as best you can to get back in.

Each boat is different, but this is the basic idea.

I didn't go bush-hooking today, no. I just wanted to take her out and hook up with something. I did find some nice points, though, near the channel. They had some good branches for lining.

It depends on the State you live in.  Most States don't require you to register a kayak.  Unfortunately, Oklahoma does.  Basic rule of thumb is that "if it floats, it needs to be registered."  Most other states don't make you register a yak unless you put a motor on it.

I need to do some deep-water re-entry training.  From what I hear, it's basically like getting on a surfboard.  Unfortunately, I've never surfed.

David, nice setup!  You going to run some limblines?
